Atlas Ruling — S55, FLAG-053, and S40-Baseline Diagnostic¶
Date: 2026-04-22 From: Atlas (CSO) To: Vesper, Katja, Orion
Rulings¶
1. S40-Baseline Diagnostic — APPROVED¶
Diagnostic clone approved. Purpose: determine whether fills are achievable under a simpler pre-cascade control model. This is a diagnostic branch, not a recovery branch.
Constraints: - Fresh DB, no reuse of main branch state - Seed current on-chain balances (79.684 XRP / 83.463 RLUSD) - No changes inside the diagnostic clone before first run — historically faithful - 10–15 minute initial window only; extend only if behaving meaningfully - No production inference from one run — comparative evidence only
Measure: fills, quote placement, order survival, realized spread, whether engine self-idles, inventory drift, CLOB conditions.
2. FLAG-053 — FILE NOW¶
Title: ANCHOR_IDLE / dual-signal convergence and reporting mismatch
Two potentially related issues under one flag: 1. Signal/reporting mismatch — dashboard anchor sign vs tick-level CLOB-AMM divergence sign (opposite signs in S55) 2. EMA deadlock / non-progress — if EMA cannot converge while idle, ANCHOR_IDLE becomes a trap state (architecturally unacceptable)
3. Further sessions on main — NO¶
Hold main branch until Orion's investigation is complete. Exception: S40-baseline diagnostic clone only.
4. Did we drift from the agreed progression? — YES¶
Not in bad faith. But real bugs forced reactive patches faster than the system was being re-simplified. Cumulative interaction space widened faster than legibility was maintained. Katja is correct to call it out.
Corrective Posture¶
- Freeze main-branch progression temporarily
- Investigate signal coherence (FLAG-053, Orion)
- Run S40-baseline diagnostic
- Re-establish legibility before resuming
Must be able to answer: what the anchor signal means, why ANCHOR_IDLE is entered, what causes exit, whether dashboard and tick logs are consistent, whether the engine can still participate in the current market under a simpler stack.
Approved Execution Order¶
- File FLAG-053
- Orion completes investigation report (sign mismatch + EMA progression + ANCHOR_IDLE exit mechanics)
- Prepare S40-baseline diagnostic clone
- Run short diagnostic session on clone
- Compare clone behavior against current branch
- Return to architecture ruling
Atlas Bottom Line¶
"The current control surface is no longer legible enough to justify continued normal iteration. The correct move is: hold, diagnose, compare, simplify if needed."
